May 26 Trail Notes

This last week and a half I must admit to having painted less than usual. There is a reason, we have a new addition to our house, a lab named Lewis. He’s only 12 months old and was rescued from the pound. He’s taken up some of my (and everyone’s) time which is fine of course!

The main painting I did do was for the 52 week illustration challenge. I have done two themes over the last week and a half. The first of these was ‘eat’ and the second was ‘melancholy’. I thought melancholy would be a difficult one to do but in the end I felt that it suited an image I had of the dark clouds in a landscape. I really enjoyed that theme by the time I was done. Here are the results:

These last two weeks I have continued with art lessons, firstly the adults on Monday mornings:

IMG_7485Finally, I made an improvement to my studio. We were at Bunnings on the weekend and I saw that they had small metal shelves for $16 (which had to be put together at home) so I bought two. These were relatively easy to put together and gave me more space to store canvases and the like.
