I am typing this update from Cairns in the far north of Queensland where I am visiting family for a couple of weeks. I love visiting up here, there is plenty of inspiration for painting but most of all its relaxing. One week ago today my family and I went along to the Sydney Easter show and I was able to see my painting, Mr Gander in the poultry art section. The painting won second prize in that class. Here’s some photos:
Hubby has picked up the paintings for me (5 in total) from the showgrounds while I’ve been away so I will get to see it properly when I return to Sydney.
Seeing as I am on holidays, art related things have slowed down but I did manage to create an image for this week’s 52 week illustration challenge with the theme ‘whimsy’. I found this theme a bit difficult to work out but in the end I went with playful seedpods and creatures floating:
This can be found in my redbubble store and seems to look great as a duvet cover!
This week’s theme (this coming Wednesday) is ‘Vietnam’ so I’m going to take advantage of being in the tropics and attempt to paint some tropical fruit. Seeing as I have never been to Vietnam and most of my association with the country is through people in Australia, I figured this would be an honest image to paint.
I am hoping to do some painting this week as well as pop along to the Cairns art galleries. We’ll see how far I get!
