This past week was quite full. We went on a long car trip and did around 1000kms in three days. We drove from Sydney to Dubbo and went to the Western Plains Zoo and then back again the next day via Forbes, Cowra and Katoomba! Why do I mention this? Because it gave me lots of resource photos to work from for painting. I spent a lot of time looking at the sky, the surroundings, the animals etc… Here’s another:
Once home I took out the long-not-used charcoal. For some reason I had the urge to sketch with it so got to it. Firstly I did this portrait:
and then using the Art Graf sticks I have I did a little portrait today:
Of course this all ended up with my hands looking like this:
and I had to contend with George to actually draw on the paper:
I also went into the showgrounds to pick up my paintings from the Sydney Easter Show. It was nice to have these home again:
Unfortunately I realised today that I was meant to take my paintings into the Camden Art Prize last Saturday and having just returned from a long trip and also being unwell, I forgot. Well actually I didn’t forget, I just noted the wrong date. I phoned this morning and its too late to bring in my paintings and they will refund me my fee. Its left me feeling a bit flat as I had painted specifically for it and was looking forward to it. I am now on the search for more art prizes to enter that are reasonably close to home and not too expensive. I’m considering the Kogarah Art Prize but entry is $30 a piece and the costs are starting to pile up. I would love to start selling some work somehow.
Anyway, onwards and up the steep hill.
