Painting this week included the challenge of the art deco theme for the 52 week illustration challenge. I wasn’t too sure what to do for this theme and did a bit of google research on the style. I really enjoyed what I discovered and even realised that my own bobbed haircut is directly from the art deco era. Here’s what I came up with in the end:
I sketched what I thought of as a woman in the style of art deco and researched the dress and wallpaper to fit the theme. I then transferred the image onto my stretched watercolour paper and got to work.
The end result was created using watercolour, sharpies (silver, copper and black) and artline fine tip felt pen. There is a smidge of white gouache on the feather too. A bit of a mixed media affair this time. This image is available in my RedBubble store here. This drawing was also selected this week by one of the admin for the 52 week illustration blog to feature alongside others. You can see that here.
Apart from that, I did a bit of painting on my current oil work, a picture of my daughter. Some progress was made:
Still plenty of adjustments to make here.
I bought some art supplies, read some art blogs and flicked through the latest art almanac but that was it for this past week.
