This past week I spent a lot of time in my house due to an allergy related throat ‘thing’. It was enough to cancel out going to the gym but not enough to stop me painting or other art related things.
The first thing on the agenda for last week was sorting out which art prizes I would like to enter for the second half of the year. There are at least six on my list although I still haven’t heard back from one of them. Here’s my list:
- Shoalhaven Open Art Exhibition
- Drummoyne Art Society Art Prize
- Oatley 101 Sale
- Kiama Art Society Show
- St George Art Award
- Hornsby Art Prize
I am yet to hear back from Drummoyne so I’m not sure if that one will happen but the rest I’m hoping to attempt to enter. I have enough work already although I’m going to be painting specifically for a couple of them. Once I sorted that out I was able to contact some of them to have entry forms or information sent to me.
Next was some time painting. I am very excited with one particular work that I did this week. I finally managed to paint the way that I have been intending to paint all along. Here it is:
I am hoping to continue painting in this style and its a relief to know that I finally worked out the best way of achieving this!
I did have a go at scrubbing out and repainting my bit of a disaster portrait from last week. I actually prefer her with the paint dripping down her face, I’m sure it can be interpreted as something more interesting. Nevertheless I still was still compelled to attempt to finish it. I still need to warm up her skin tones with a wash but its an improvement:
I also got to work on another of my journey paintings this week. This one is almost done with a few touches needed here and there.
I spent a bit of time adding to my RedBubble store this week too, particularly in the area of throw pillows/cushions. You can see the selection here although RedBubble automatically added the cushion option to every image in the store.
Here’s a couple of examples:
Finally, I managed to get out of the house on Friday and do a bit of op shopping. Amongst my acquisitions was this Streeton poster which I love! Streeton is one of my favourite artists:
Even though I was a bit sick last week, I’m still happy with what I was able to do art-wise. Not a bad week really!
